Qualifications:
- Minimum Education/Skill Requirements:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree with a current teaching license
- Strong skills in planning, project management, time management, initiative, leadership, creative thinking, and the ability to work with multiple grade levels and community partners
- Preferred Experience:
- Experience in Career and Technical Education (CTE) and/or Work-Based Learning (WBL)
- Three years experience working with middle and/or high school age students and one year of leadership experience
Job Goals:
- Successfully teach CTE courses in grades 6-8
- Implement and oversee all aspects of UCMS CTE and program requirements including: career awareness, career exploration, career advising and planning
- Design and implement Summer Innovation Camp
- Oversee and provide records and reports for Innovative Schools Grant
- Provide support and training for staff/students within a career-oriented learning platform
- Develop and maintain relationships with postsecondary institutions and local industries
- Maintain relationships with counselors at all levels as students transition to middle and high school
- Complete annual training in order to gain/retain certification as a TN TEAM Evaluator
Essential Functions:
The following functions are normal for this position. These functions are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Provide support, engagement, and guidance to help students in grades 6-8 define their career interests and explore educational opportunities
- Improve the quality and effectiveness of career counseling given to middle school students and their families
- Plan, design, implement, and deliver content for career development through a Title I family engagement event
- Provide information on careers, career pathways, and educational requirements to every student
- Provide opportunities for job shadowing, mentoring, visits to business and industry, and other career awareness activities
- Monitor and track student interest areas within different careers and academic pathways
- Coordinate daily functions of CTE instructional assistant
- Assist UCMS and district administration in completion of TEAM evaluations
